The Bookshelf is a growing collection of biomedical books that are adapted for the web by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). The books can be searched directly (search term or phrase) or they can be found through links to PubMed abstracts.

Free Medical Journals lists more than 1,000 journals that offer free full-text access to medical and life sciences-related articles. The journals can be browsed by speciality or by title.

BioMed Central (BMC)
BMC publishes a set of open-access, online journals that encompasses major biological (18 BMC journals) and medical disciplines (39 BMC journals). Additionally, BMC publishes over 30 journals with own editorial policies. The journals can be browsed by title or subject or can be searched by keywords.

HighWire, Internet Imprint of the Stanford University
With access to over 4,000,000 free full-text life sciences articles from over 1,000 hosted journals HighWire is the largest repository of free full-text life science articles in the world. The archives can by searched by keywords and authors or browsed by topics.

Directory of free medical books provided by FlyingPublisher. The site lists over 650 medical books sorted by subject or title (language).

PubMed Central (PMC)
PMC is a free, constantly growing, digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal publications. The archive of free full-text articles is developed and managed by NIH's National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) in the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Currently (Jan. 15, 2006) there are 217 biomedical and life sciences journals listet.

novoseek indexes biomedical literature from Pubmed, Free Full Text Publications from Open Access Journals in PubMedCentral and US grants from over 75 institutions including the U.S. National Institute of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) using a text mining technology that enables the identification of key biomedical terms. To perform this ambiguous identification, our technology takes into account external available data as well as contextual term information .
